"Community Choice Aggregation (CCA): Energy choice, local accountability, and community focus"
Right now you have no choice when it comes to the energy you use in your home or business. Luckily, we have an opportunity to change that! California state law allows communities or groups of communities to form an energy district, known as a CCA, for the purposes of buying power on behalf of their members. Based on the success of two CCAs in California -- MCE Clean Energy (the cities and county of Marin and City of Richmond) and Sonoma Clean Power (the cities and county of Sonoma) -- SLO Clean Energy is asking the question, "What would a CCA make possible for the communities of San Luis Obispo county?" Some opportunities worth exploring include: local control and accountability, competition and choice, long-term electrical rate stability, local economic growth & jobs, and clean energy & local self-reliance. What would be possible with a self-funded, locally accountable energy district that is focused on local values and priorities?
Scott Mann is a member of the Leadership Team for SLO Clean Energy -- an all-volunteer organization committed to the exploration and formation of a COMMUNITY CHOICE AGGREGATION (CCA) program for the communities of San Luis Obispo county. He is an emerging professional in the field of architecture, post-industrial, and urban design. He studied architecture at Cal Poly SLO and at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Consortium (WAAC), sculpts stone under the direction of Dr. Botso Korisheli, and is an award-winning furniture designer. After graduation, Scott worked as the SLO County Energy Upgrade Specialist on a Statewide residential energy efficiency program and he is currently an Architectural Intern with studio2G Architects, LLP.
